I remember watching that game 7 and you couldn't hear anything but the fans. It was crazy

I wish I was a little older when those games were happening. I have fuzzy memories of them. I have seen most of them as reruns but it's not the same.

going into the first round vs the Islanders, there was still this very uneasy feeling that despite how good the Rangers were that the Islanders were going to give them hell.

The Isles had gone to the conference finals the year before and were a pain in the ass as usual every time they played them.

The way the Rangers absolutely annihilated them in that 4 game sweep was so ridiculously satisfying, years and years of frustration released in a big way.

I was 18 at a friends house. The parents were huge Rangers fans. Had a party for about 10 of us. I was hammered by the opening faceoff.

Two things that have stayed with me from the "old" Garden from the 1980s:

1) National Anthem by Amirante

2) the old Chief walking around leading cheers and greeting fans

Rest in Peace Mr. Amirante...

Then the Washington series which also was a relative cake walk before the real tests occurred.

Never really understood the point of the Chief. I don't really understand Dancing Larry either though.

Not sure I ever asked, but how the hell did you become a Rangers fans. I think its mandatory in Bucks County that you are a Flyers/Eagles fan

Flyers played on this channel called Prism growing up, it was kind of like an HBO channel so we didn't' get it with our cable. Always saw the Rangers on TV when I was young so I followed them.
